UE 506 and 618 represented employees at GE Transportation’s headquarter location in Erie, Penn. voted to accept a new four-year labor contract. GE Transportation employs more than 3,500 UE members in Erie, including 450 new hires who started since April 2011 and another 800 production workers who were recalled since late 2010.
The new contract will address employee and Company concerns while providing wages and benefits unmatched in the region. The Company set out to negotiate a competitive and fair package for the 2011 contract term that was a win-win for customers, suppliers, employees, the community-at-large, and the Company.
“The ratification of this contract is a testament to the partnership GE and its employees have built over our 100 years in Erie,” said Lorenzo Simonelli, President and CEO of GE Transportation. “I congratulate and thank our UE leadership team and the employees for their cooperation and professionalism through tough contract negotiations. At GE Transportation we are one team dedicated to strengthening our competitiveness and serving our customers around the world.”
