GE Transportation will feature its LNG powered locomotive technology and RailConnect™ 360 software portfolio at KTZ Technology Day.
Chicago, July 13, 2016 - GE Transportation, a leading producer of rail and transportation-related products and offerings, will feature its liquefied natural gas (LNG) powered locomotive technology and RailConnect™ 360 software portfolio at the KTZ conference entitled “Improving Personnel Training Process as Per Safety in Operation Requirements.”
Jamie Miller, President and CEO of GE Transportation, will highlight key investments GE Transportation is making to develop alternative fuel technologies for locomotives and enhance digital solutions to drive operating efficiency and productivity. These important technologies will play a critical role in further supporting KTZ and the rail industry in Kazakhstan and surrounding regions.
GE Transportation is driving change across the rail industry to reduce costs with its introduction of NextFuelTM Natural Gas Retrofit Kit, its first dual-fuel locomotive kit that provides rail operators with 100 percent diesel flexibility with up to 80 percent natural gas substitution. The gas substitution reduces fuel costs by up to 50 percent and allows for an increase in distances before refueling is required - under normal operating conditions - while maintaining top performance standards and meeting emissions regulations.
RailConnect™ 360 leverages GE’s Predix platform to use advanced software, powerful analytics and mobility to enable better decisions and improve outcomes along the entire rail ecosystem. This is part of GE’s transformation into the world’s leading digital industrial company, creating an open, global network that connects people, data and machine - bringing the Industrial Internet to life. GE Transportation also will feature RailConnect TMS (Transportation Management System), which automates aspects of train and switching operations and provides high visibility over rail assets, communicating information proactively and empowering operators to better plan its operations.
