Griswell Receives ASLRRA 2017 Distinguished Service Award
Washington, DC – May 17, 2017 – Gary Griswell, Customer Success Leader – Rail, GE Transportation, was honored with the American Short Line and Regional Railroad Association’s (ASLRRA) Thomas L. Schlosser Distinguished Service Award, given on an annual basis to recognize an individual for long-term, significant service to the Association. Mr. Griswell is the first Associate Member recipient of the prestigious award, presented at ASLRRA’s 2017 CONNECTIONS Convention held in Grapevine, Texas.
Judy Petry, Chairman, ASLRRA and President of Farmrail, Inc. presented the award. In reviewing the qualifications for this award, Judy illuminated the significant contributions that Gary has made to the industry, as well as the leadership traits that have made him such a stand out among railroaders. “Gary is a man of honesty, a man of integrity, a man of good heart. He is well-liked, and well-loved by the people in this industry,” Petry noted.
Griswell has served in a variety of capacities for the ASLRRA, including being a founding member of the Technology Committee, CONNECTIONS Convention Chair, 2015 and the Board of Directors (2013-2015), and will chair the 2018 CONNECTIONS Convention to be held in Nashville, TN.
“Gary has been a champion of short line railroads, supporting both our business solution needs as well as helping to advance our legislative agenda toward maintaining a level playing field and preserving the ability to remain competitive individually and collectively,” said Alan Matheson, Assistant Superintendent, Tacoma Rail.
Griswell is currently the Customer Success Leader – Rail with GE Digital. He has served GE on the ShipperConnect Team as the Shipper Customer Experience Leader, and the Customer Support Team as the Short Line Customer Experience Leader. Previously, Gary was with RMI for 26 years before the company was acquired by GE Transportation in 2012.
