DB Cargo and GE Transportation Expand Rail's Digital Footprint in Europe

DB Cargo – Europe’s largest rail freight company – and GE Transportation have signed an agreement to digitize 250 locomotives across Germany, U.K., France and Poland over the next five years. This marks GE Transportation’s first-ever European digital contract and a major milestone in the company’s efforts to create self-aware locomotives and digitize the entire rail operation value chain.

GE and Rio Tinto: partnering for peak locomotive performance

In May 2016, Australian mining company Rio Tinto and GE signed a five-year customer service agreement (CSA) to build mutual assurance around the miner’s rail operation. GE Reaffirms Commitment to Russian Market with $1 Billion Sourcing Plan and Expanded Strategic Partnerships

General Electric (NYSE: GE) reaffirmed its commitment to the company’s growth plans in Russia by announcing a $1 billion sourcing program and signing a series of agreements with its Russian strategic partners at the 17th GE Oil & Gas Annual Meeting in Florence. The new initiatives are aimed at accelerating GE’s localization of advanced technology solutions across the oil & gas, power, and transportation industries, as well as driving demand for local suppliers.

Delivered two new SAAM tugs powered by GE Marine

SAAM has taken delivery of its first two tugs to be powered by GE Marine. These new 80-ton RAstar 3200 terminal support tugs include two 8L250 GE Marine diesel engines. Designed by Robert Allan Ltd. and built at Guangdong Bonny Fair Heavy Industry Limited in China, the tugs will operate out of Uruguay. “Arriero,” reached its new home port of Montevideo on November 16 and the second tug, “Maneador,” is currently en route. Two additional vessels ordered by SAAM and also to be powered by GE Marine, the “Yunco” and “Huairavo” will sail out of Chile.

These are the “Most African” Locomotives Ever Created

GE has commenced production of its “most African” locomotives. Once completed, the 233 GE Evolution Series locomotives will contain 55 per cent local content, making them the “most African” locomotives of their kind.

NEW ORLEANS - Dec. 1, 2015 – Today, GE Marine announced the next evolution of its breakthrough Tier 4 compliant marine diesel engines. GE Marine has extended its Tier 4 engine series to include 16- and 12-cylinder V-models, an 8-cylinder inline model, and a 6-cylinder inline model that is currently planned for development.

GE to supply 1,000 locomotives to Indian Railways

New York, New Delhi, November 9, 2015 GE announced today it will invest $200 million to develop and supply Indian Railways with 1,000 diesel locomotives. The company received a Letter of Award from the Ministry of Railways for a locomotive supply and maintenance contract, worth approximately $2.5 billion over 11 years. The deal advances the ‘Make in India’ initiative and reinforces India’s position as a global manufacturing destination.

GE Transportation completed the first production test of its GE Evolution Series Tier 4 engine. This production test evaluates the performance, emissions and mechanical properties of the engine. This is the first engine to go through the newly built test cell in Grove City and will be sent to one of GE’s locomotive assembly facilities to be installed into a GE Evolution Series Tier 4 locomotive.

GE Names Three To Leadership Positions

Lorenzo Simonelli, who currently leads GE Transportation, will succeed Heintzelman as president and CEO of GE Oil & Gas. GE Marine Unveils Ecomagination-Qualified 12V250 Marine Diesel Engine

At the International Workboat Show, GE Marine will unveil its ecomagination-qualified 12-cylinder V250 Marine Diesel engine that reduces emissions by 50 percent to meet EPA Tier 4i and IMO Tier III emission compliance. GE’s breakthrough technology eliminates the need for a urea-based after-treatment emissions reduction system. In addition, the 12V250 engine offers increased power of 3,150 kW at 900 rpm and 3,500 kW at 1000 rpm while maintaining low life-cycle cost, reliability and fuel efficiency.
