It’s been a big day for networking for the GE Transportation team and our partners at InnoTrans 2012!  If you haven’t had the chance to visit our stand or our PowerHaul locomotive, here are some things you might have missed:

1. GE Transportation and Kazakhstan Temir Zholy (KTZ) announced a landmark contract today at InnoTrans to extend their partnership to produce its Evolution Series passenger locomotives at the assembly plant in Astana. The Evolution locomotive, with a 12-cylinder diesel engine, produces the same 4,400 horsepower as its 16-cylinder predecessor, and uses up to 5% less fuel.

GE Transportation is studying a fit for its Tempo CBTC Solution and Interlocking Solution in Hong Kong’s MTR metro infrastructure.  MTR Corporation and GE Transportation recently signed an agreement to assess the feasibility of applying GE’s Tempo system to meet MTR’s current and future operating needs. The collaboration began in June 2012 and will continue through May 2014 and includes Tempo CBTC and Interlocking systems, part of GE Transportation’s Tempo Railway Solutions portfolio for mass transit and mainline operators.

GE Transportation is showcasing Tempo Railway Solutions, its new rail signaling solutions portfolio for mass transit and mainline operations, at InnoTrans2012.  For more than a century, GE has been solving the world’s toughest rail challenges with innovative products and advanced rail technologies that have changed the industry. Tempo Railway Solutions offers customers a breadth of solutions designed around a common fail-safe, scalable hardware and software platform as well as an integrated suite of engineering tools. These signaling solutions with interlocking and automatic train control simplify railway signaling project execution, day-to-day operation and maintenance.

GE and Kazakhstan Temir Zholy (KTZ) announced today they have signed a new landmark agreement to extend their partnership in Kazakhstan to produce passenger locomotives at the assembly plant in Astana, Kazakhstan. GE will deliver 110 of its EvolutionTM Series locomotive kits manufactured in Grove City and Erie, Pennsylvania, USA. Lokomotiv Kurastyru Zauyty (LKZ), a joint-stock company of the Republic of Kazakhstan and a subsidiary of KTZ, assembles GE’s Evolution locomotives for railroad customers in Kazakhstan and the surrounding region. They will now produce GE’s Evolution passenger locomotives, the most technologically advanced diesel electric, heavy-haul locomotive modified for higher speed passenger service.
