GE Transportation’s Molly Burke is Featured in New GE Commercial
Recently, GE announced its effort to bridge the gender gap. We believe a company that changes the world, should reflect the world. In that spirit, we have set goals of having 20,000 women fill STEM roles at GE by 2020 and obtaining 50:50 representation for all our technical entry-level programs. The strategy will significantly increase the representation of women in the engineering, manufacturing, IT and product management roles at GE – which is necessary to fully transform into a digital industrial company for the future.
Data-driven research proves that gender diversity is essential to economic competitiveness and in fact, MIT economists have discovered that a gender shift could increase company revenue by 41 percent. The progress that we have made as a company is exceptional and positions us well to accelerate our next steps and intensify our efforts.
We are building on a strong foundation, including the achievement of a 50:50 gender ratio in our 2016 Edison Engineering Development Program class, the work across our Women’s Network and GE Girls programs, as well as the introduction of contemporary benefits programs. Helping GE promote the initiative is GE Transportation’s very own Molly Burke, Operations Leadership Management Program member, based in Erie, PA, was selected to represent our business in the new Mille TV commercial. Way to go Molly!
